Evaluation

In what ways does your media product use, evaluate or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My magazine does not follow any conventions as there are not really many young girl music magazines in the shops. There is one called top of the pops this was my main inspiration for my magazine, with the articles and the colours.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My music magazine represents a particular social group through my colour schemes I used. I chose to all shades of pink as they are very girly colours and that was my main target audience. I was also inspired to use colours as they were most popular when I asked my questionnaire to my target audience.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
The types of media institutions that might distribute my media magazine would be at news agents, supermarkets, also people could subscribe to it on the internet.
My music magazine could be also advertised through children’s TV programmes during the adverts, as that is my main target audience and it could be a easy way to get everyone to know about the magazine.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for my music magazine is girls from the ages of 8-13yr olds. As they will be more interested in the article in the magazine. Through the questionnaire I found out what my target audience would like and that played a big part in the making of my magazine.
How did you attract/address your audience?
I addressed my audience by carrying out a questionnaire, making sure I handed it out to my specific target audience which was girl of the ages 8-13. My doing my questionnaire this made sure I put in things that would attract my target audience to buy my magazine, but I also added things that I liked to have in my magazine.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
From the process of making my music magazine I have learnt how to use different software’s. One of the software’s was Adobe Photoshop. This software is used for editing and cropping photos. I used it a lot during the process so I got used to all the features that it entitled to use the software. The other software that I use was piknik, this is another photo editing software but on this software there are more key features like blemish fixing etc.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you think you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at my first task of creating a school magazine this has helped me in making of my music magazine. The first thing I made sure is that I ask my target audience the right questions to get the best information for my magazine.
I chose a specific target audience of young girls for my school magazine so I carried this out into my music magazine. I learnt through the process that it was time consuming and I had to plan when to do everything so I got it in by the deadline. A problem that I had during the making of my music magazine was getting people for my photo shoot, people had let me down so this was very time consuming during the making, finally I found people to do it and they were a great help.
